I believe that with curiosity, respect, and timing, adults can engage young people no matter how closed off they seem. Barriers to engagement include fear, disorganization, self-absorption, anger, hyperactivity, and more. Still, all are open to enticement; they crave connection. By treating young people with curiosity and respect we nurture those same values in them, and in doing so help move them toward more harmonious relationships.
